Instructions

1. Marinate the Steak and Shrimp:

Steak: In a bowl, combine olive oil, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Rub the mixture all over the steak. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature, or up to 2 hours in the fridge.

Shrimp: In a separate bowl, combine olive oil, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss the shrimp in the mixture and let it marinate for 15-20 minutes.

2. Cook the Steak and Shrimp:

Preheat a grill or large skillet to medium-high heat.

Grill the steak for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare (135°F/57°C), or to your desired doneness. Remove from heat, let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.

In the same skillet or grill, cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Set aside.

3. Cook the Onions and Peppers:

In a skillet, heat 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking for 5-7 minutes until softened and slightly charred. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.

4. Assemble the Tacos:

Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Place a tortilla on the skillet, sprinkle with a layer of shredded cheese, and cook for 1-2 minutes until the cheese starts to melt.

Add a few slices of steak, a few shrimp, and a spoonful of the onion-pepper mixture on one half of the tortilla. Fold the tortilla over to form a taco, pressing gently. Cook for another 1-2 minutes per side until the tortilla is crispy and the cheese is fully melted.

Repeat with the remaining tortillas and fillings.

5. Serve:

Arrange the tacos on a platter or cutting board.

Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and serve with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

For extra heat, add a diced jalapeño to the onion-pepper mixture.

Serve with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for additional toppings.

Enjoy your Steak and Shrimp Tacos!
