Instructions:
1. Prepare the Crispy Steak:
In a bowl, toss the steak cubes with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak cubes in a single layer (work in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding).
Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side until crispy and browned, and cooked to your desired doneness (135°F/57°C for medium-rare). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
2. Make the Guacamole:
In a medium bowl, mash the avocados with a fork until mostly smooth, leaving some chunks for texture.
Add the diced red onion, tomatoes, jalapeño (if using), cilantro, lime juice, minced garlic, and salt. Stir to combine. Adjust seasoning with more lime juice or salt as needed.
3. Assemble and Serve:
Spread the guacamole evenly in the bottom of the cast-iron skillet or a serving dish.
Top the guacamole with the crispy steak bites, arranging them in a pile.
Surround the guacamole and steak with tortilla chips, tucking them into the edges for easy scooping.
Serve immediately, encouraging guests to scoop the guacamole and steak with the chips.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the steak in the spice mixture for 30 minutes before cooking.
Add a sprinkle of crumbled queso fresco or a dollop of sour cream on top for an extra layer of richness.
Enjoy your Crispy Steak and Guacamole Mexican Style!
